Age Falsification Allegations Surface Against Ondo Civil Servants: Salami Adekunle Petitions Acting Governor
Salami Adekunle Jimoh, a Local Government staff from Akoko North East Local Government in Ondo State, has lodged a petition with the Acting Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The petition alleges age falsification by Abiodun Akintade, the Permanent Secretary Local Government PTAD, Raphael Akinrotimi, HOLGA Ifedore Local Government, and Morenike Adejoro, HOLGA Akure North Local Government. Salami contends that such actions not only undermine the civil service system but also negatively impact young graduates seeking employment in the civil service.
In the detailed petition obtained by journalists , Salami reveals that previous reports to the Head of Service received little attention, possibly due to a perceived relationship between Akintade and the Head of Service. The petitioner discloses that the Local Government Civil Service Commission Chairman once advised Akinrotimi and Adejoro to resign voluntarily, but the matter remains unresolved. Salami urges the Acting Governor to thoroughly investigate the allegations for the purification of government work.
Upon receiving the petition, Raphael Akinrotimi, who vehemently denied the allegations, labeling the petitioners as faceless individuals without ties to Akoko North East Local Government. Abiodun Akintade, also contacted, expressed a desire for a physical interview, adamantly refuting the accusations. He stated that the allegations stemmed from faceless and untraceable individuals not associated with the claimed Local Government.
In his defense, Akintade clarified that despite accusations in the petition regarding the Head of Service, Pastor Ogundele, and himself being from the same Local Government or Senatorial District, they hail from different areas. Akintade attributed the allegations to potential adversaries he might have gained during his tenure as Permanent Secretary in the Local Government Civil Service Commission. He emphasized his commitment to justly discharging duties in line with Civil Service principles.
“I, Abiodun Akintade, have never and will never fabricate or falsify my date of birth, and I will continue to discharge my duties thoroughly, dispassionately, and in accordance with the principles of civil service without fear or favor,” asserted Akintade in response to the allegations.
