Olufemi Mayor Omosuwa to Receive ‘Pillar of Justice and Civic Engagement Award’ at D Chronicle’s 13th Anniversary

AKURE — Prominent lawyer, human rights advocate and community leader, Olufemi Mayor Omosuwa, Esq., has been selected to receive the “Pillar of Justice and Civic Engagement Award” at the 13th Anniversary celebration of D Chronicle Media Ventures.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State. The anniversary is themed “Agenda 2027: Leadership, Accountability, Progress.”
Born into the respected Asao Family of Uso in Owo Local Government Area to the late Pastor Noah Omosuwa and late Deaconess Abiye Omosuwa, Mr. Omosuwa is a devout Christian and proud son of Uso.
He attended St. Andrews Primary School, Uso, and Uso Grammar School before studying Fine and Applied Arts at Delta State University, Abraka Campus, from 1990 to 1994. He later returned to the same university as one of its pioneer Law students and graduated with an LL.B in 1999. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2000 after Bwari Law School and also holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Enforcement from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He is the Principal of Omosuwa Chambers with offices in Maitama, Abuja and Akure, Ondo State.
Beyond legal practice, Esq. Omosuwa has played active roles in politics and governance. He won the ACN ticket for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in 2011, organized the 2012 “Aketi Fund Raising” in Abuja, and served on the Buhari-Osinbajo Campaign’s Critical Communication Committee in 2019. He was also on the Legal Committee of the Aketi/Ayedatiwa Campaign Organization and later served APC nationally as a member of the Ward/LGA Congress Committee and Secretary of the National Appeal Committee for Taraba State in 2022.
In recognition of his service, he was appointed a member of the Owo Development Council by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo. He also serves as Legal Adviser to Uso Community under His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyinbade Olanipekun III, the Oloba of Uso, and is a member of both the Oloba-in-Council and Uso Advisory Council.
He is Chairman of the Governing Board of Liberal Platform for Charity and Human Development, President of African Masses’ Development and Human Rights Initiatives, Global Coordinator of “Yoruba Fundamental Rights Defender,” and a member of Afenifere. He is also a public affairs analyst, poet and columnist.
The anniversary ceremony will bring together policymakers, media practitioners, traditional rulers, civil society actors, students and other stakeholders to discuss leadership and national development ahead of 2027.
The keynote address will be delivered by Hon. Dayo Awude, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ondo State, while Prince Eni Akinsola, Public Analyst and COO of Agogo Publishers Ltd, will chair the occasion.
Special Guests expected include Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Amotekun Commander, Ondo State, and Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor. The Special Guest of Honour is His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State.
The Royal Fathers of the Day are HRM Rotimi Obamuwagun Nwade I, Olumoru of Imoru Kingdom, and HRM Oba Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyinbade Olanipekun III, PhD, Oloba of Uso.
For 13 years, D Chronicle Media Ventures has operated Chronicle TV, Chronicle Online, and Chronicle Magazine, with a focus on truth, knowledge, accountability and national development. The anniversary will feature a keynote lecture, award presentations and panel discussions.
