Oyo Rescue Proves Security Forces Can Defeat Criminals With Strong Support – Olawepo-Hashim

Accord Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has praised Nigeria’s security agencies for rescuing the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as proof that criminal groups can be defeated with sustained political backing.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Olawepo-Hashim said the successful rescue demonstrated that Nigeria’s armed forces possess the capacity to tackle insecurity when provided with clear direction, adequate support, and decisive leadership.

According to him, the operation should serve as a model for intensified nationwide efforts against kidnappers, bandits, and other violent criminal groups. He urged the Federal Government to replicate the same level of commitment in other parts of the country where many victims remain in captivity.

He specifically called for similar operations in states including Kwara, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Kebbi, stressing that no family should be left to suffer while the government has the means to act.

The former presidential candidate also appealed to the Federal Government to provide stronger political support and strategic direction to security agencies to sustain the fight against insecurity.

Olawepo-Hashim further urged security chiefs to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and freeing all kidnapped victims across the country. He advocated a coordinated national strategy to eliminate terrorism and violent crime.

Highlighting the Nigerian military’s record in international peacekeeping missions, particularly under the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) in Liberia and Sierra Leone, he said the armed forces have repeatedly demonstrated professionalism and effectiveness when properly supported.

He congratulated personnel of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services for the successful operation, while also rejoicing with the rescued victims and their families.

He prayed for their speedy physical, emotional, and psychological recovery following their weeks in captivity.
