D Chronicle Honours Dada Peter Agara with Role Model in Agricultural Development Award
The remarkable journey of Dada Peter Agara, from a young farmer in Idoani to a respected agricultural entrepreneur and community leader, will take centre stage at the 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Programme, where he will be honoured with the prestigious Role Model in Agricultural Development Award by D Chronicle Media Ventures.

The event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, by 2:00 p.m. It will feature discussions on the theme, “Unlocking the Agricultural Tax Potentials: Strategies for Enhancing Ondo State IGR.” The lecture will be delivered by Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ondo State, while Hon. (Engr.) Leye Akinola, Honourable Commissioner for Forestry, will serve as Chairman. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.
For decades, Dada Peter Agara has remained deeply committed to agriculture, transforming what began as a childhood passion into a thriving enterprise that continues to support food production, job creation, and rural economic development.
His agricultural interests span a wide range of cash crops, including cocoa, palm oil, palm kernel, oranges, pears, yam, cocoyam, and pineapple. Through determination, consistency, and a strong understanding of the agricultural value chain, he has built a flourishing farming enterprise that has become a source of livelihood and inspiration to many within and beyond his community.
Beyond cultivation, Agara identified a major challenge faced by local farmers—access to quality agricultural inputs. This inspired the establishment of Toluwani Farm Stores, a pioneering agricultural supply outlet located in Amusigbo Quarters, Idoani. The business provides farmers with genuine farm tools, equipment, and agrochemicals at affordable prices, saving them the stress and cost of travelling long distances to source essential farming materials.
Today, Toluwani Farm Stores has become a trusted name among farmers across the Irekari axis and neighbouring communities, playing a significant role in improving productivity and supporting agricultural growth at the grassroots level.
Away from business, Agara has distinguished himself in public service. As a dedicated officer in the local government system, he has earned widespread respect for his discipline, professionalism, and commitment to community development. His leadership qualities have seen him serve in various capacities, including Vice Chairman of a Cooperative Society and Trustee of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), where he contributed meaningfully to the welfare of members and the growth of the organisations.
Within his hometown of Idoani, he is widely regarded as a bridge-builder and community mobiliser.
Through active participation in age-grade associations and development initiatives, he continues to promote unity, progress, and social cohesion among residents.
Known for his passion for culture, music, and traditional folklore, Agara remains a familiar and respected figure at social gatherings and community events, where his rich knowledge of tradition and engaging personality often add colour to important occasions.
Beyond his accomplishments in agriculture and public service, he is admired as a devoted family man whose values of discipline, hard work, and mutual respect are reflected in his home and the success of his children.
The honour being bestowed on Dada Peter Agara celebrates a life dedicated to productive enterprise, community service, and agricultural advancement. His story stands as proof that commitment, resilience, and vision can transform humble beginnings into lasting impact.
As stakeholders gather in Akure for the 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Programme, his recognition will serve as a fitting tribute to a man whose contributions continue to strengthen agriculture, empower communities, and inspire future generations.
