Aiyedatiwa Moves to End Years of Suffering on Aboto–Atijere Road as OSOPADEC Targets December Completion

Residents of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State may soon heave a sigh of relief as the state government has intensified work on the long-awaited Aboto–Atijere Road project.

The intervention, championed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa through the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), is aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities, and easing movement within the riverine communities.

Officials disclosed that construction work on the road has gathered momentum, with contractors already mobilised to site and major rehabilitation efforts ongoing across critical sections of the route.

The Aboto–Atijere Road has for years remained a major concern for residents due to its poor condition, which affected transportation, trade, and access to neighboring communities.

Speaking on the development, OSOPADEC assured residents that the project is receiving urgent attention and is expected to be completed by December this year.

The commission explained that the road project forms part of broader efforts by the Aiyedatiwa administration to improve infrastructure and bring development closer to oil-producing communities across Ondo State.

Residents and community leaders reportedly welcomed the renewed construction efforts, expressing optimism that the road would finally become motorable after years of neglect and hardship.

The government also reiterated its commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects capable of improving the living conditions of people in the coastal areas of the state.
