Wasiu Adewale Akanji to Bag Excellence in Agribusiness Award by D Chronicle Media
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s agricultural growth and commitment to empowering farmers through sustainable aquaculture, Wasiu Adewale Akanji will be honored with the Excellence in Agribusiness Award at the 2025 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Ceremony.
The event, organized by D Chronicle Media, will hold on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Olusegun Aganga Hall, International Conference Center, University of Ibadan. Themed “Growing Beyond Oil: Agriculture as a Key to Nigeria’s Economic Diversification,” the ceremony will feature a keynote lecture by Prof. Olorunfemi Oladapo Ogundele and be chaired by Mr. Omidokun Oyekunle, with the Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, and Dr. Seye Oyeleye, DG, DAWN Commission, as special guests.
A respected agribusiness entrepreneur and community leader, Akanji has distinguished himself as a driving force in Oyo State’s fish farming industry. Since venturing into aquaculture in 2015, his unwavering dedication to excellence and innovation has transformed his modest start into a thriving enterprise known for live and smoked fish production, training, and farm setup services.
Through his leadership as Chairman of the New Star Fish Farmers Association and Vice Chairman of the Akobe Zone Fish Farmers Association, he has championed collaboration, fair pricing, and sustainable practices within the aquaculture community. His commitment to youth mentorship and empowerment continues to inspire the next generation of agripreneurs across Oyo State.
The Excellence in Agribusiness Award celebrates Akanji’s outstanding vision, integrity, and transformative impact in advancing agribusiness as a key driver of economic development and community prosperity in Nigeria.
