Ondo LGSC Boss, Hon Femi Idris, Wife Dr (Mrs) Mercy Femi -Idris bag Couple of Distinction in Public Service Award
D Chronicle Media, one of Ondo State’s leading tabloids, has announced that Hon. Femi Idris and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Femi-Idris, will be honoured with the Couple of Distinction in Public Service Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to governance and community development.
The Award will be presented during the grand celebration tagged “50/12”, marking the 50th birthday of the CEO of D Chronicle Media and the 12th anniversary of the media organisation. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 23rd August 2025, at St. Luke Event Center, Akure, Ondo State.
Hon. Femi Idris, current Chairman of the Ondo State Local Government Service Commission and National Chairman of the Conference of Local Government Service Commission Chairmen in Nigeria, is a respected political figure with a leadership career spanning more than three decades. He is widely celebrated as “Mr. Local Government” for his reforms and impactful service at the grassroots level. On his credit, he has received several awards and accolades.
Meanwhile, his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Femi-Idris, the current Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Pension Transitional Department of Ondo State, is a seasoned administrator and recipient of the 2018 Chronicle Magazine Best Administrator Award and the current outstanding public servant of the year conferred on her by the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Ondo State chapter. She is admired for her dedication to public service, professional excellence, and passion for community development.
The 50/12 Celebration will feature prominent personalities, including the Royal Fathers of the Day – HRM Rotimi Obamuwagun Uwade I, Olumoru of Imoru, and HRM Engr. (Dr.) Ademola Oyinbade Olanipekun III, Oloba of Uso. Guest Speaker for the occasion will be Comrade Babatunde Ali, former governorship aspirant of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), will be speaking on the theme: Accountability and Transparency: Keys to Fulfilling Election Promises in Public Service while Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire representing Ondo Central District at the National Assembly will serve as Chairman. Hon. (Chief) Ifedayo Abegunde Abena, Director of Corporate Services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is the Special Guest, and the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.
