Pastor Chris reveals reasons for parting ways with some gospel singers

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, who is the founder and General Overseer of Christ Embassy, discussed in a recent YouTube video the reasons behind his decision to part ways with specific gospel singers from his church. He stated, “I explained why this occurred back in 2020: because the church was not being serious.”

Pastor Chris expressed his concern that the essence of worship had been lost in the church. He observed that rather than being places for prayer, churches had turned into venues for celebrations.

He remarked that the style of music in the church had become secularized. “They were dancing for their own pleasure and celebrating themselves instead of celebrating God. How many of those artists were winning souls? They weren’t soul winners at all,” he noted. Pastor Chris criticized these performers for leading worship during services, but abandoning the congregation during prayer times for other church events.

He accused them of acting as professionals who were profiting from the church by charging fees for their performances under the guise of offering praise to God. “It was all a facade,” he claimed, adding that many pastors were oblivious to how worldly influences had seeped into the church.

He recounted his initial attempts to alter the worship culture, but when his singers refused to embrace genuine worship, he realized he had to let them go. “I had to release them because God was directing me, saying, ‘This is not the right path.’”

Pastor Chris elaborated that while these singers had gained fame and income, the temptation of financial benefits led them away from the true purpose of worship as intended by God.

He cautioned that churches currently hosting these artists for special events would eventually stop doing so once the artists repent and return to the essence of true worship. “Real praise takes place in the house of God, not from a minister who is on tour collecting fees.”

He concluded by encouraging believers to stay spiritually alert, vigilant, and committed to prayer, asserting that genuine worship should always honor God.
