2027: Peter Obi Pledges One-Term Presidency, Says Four Years Enough to Transform Nigeria
Former Labour Party presidential election candidate, Peter Obi, has reiterated his commitment to a single-term presidency if elected in 2027, insisting that four years is sufficient to set Nigeria on the path to meaningful transformation.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi confirmed his intention to run for president in the upcoming election—but firmly ruled out accepting a vice-presidential slot. “I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance,” he said.
Obi, who came third in the 2023 presidential race, argued that true leadership is defined by compassion, vision, and a sense of urgency. “In two years, there has been maximum damage. Two years can change it in a good direction,” he stated, referencing the state of the nation under the current administration.
He stressed the need for a president who inspires hope and demonstrates genuine concern for the plight of ordinary Nigerians. “People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion,” Obi added.
His comments come amid growing public dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy and national affairs.
