2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award; Hon. Ige Ebiwonjumi Sets for Prestigious Honour
AKURE — D Chronicle Media Ventures will gather Nigeria’s brightest minds in agriculture and leadership for its flagship 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award on Thursday, 11th June 2026 at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State by 2pm.
Under the powerful theme “Beyond Farming; Agribusiness as the Engine of Wealth Creation and National Transformation,” this year’s event will spotlight men and women proving that agriculture is not just planting and harvest, it is business, innovation, and nation-building.
One of the honourees set to be celebrated is Hon. Ige Victor Ebiwonjumi, a committed public servant, community leader, and emerging force reshaping both politics and agribusiness in Ondo State. He will be decorated with Outstanding Contributor to Agricultural Policy and Natural Resources Management Award.
Born and raised in Okitipupa, Hon. Ige laid his academic foundation at Army Children’s School, Okitipupa before attending Success Group of Schools for his secondary education. He later earned his degree from Ekiti State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration.
Politics runs in his blood. With his father also a politician, Hon. Ige stepped into public service in 2011. His consistency and dedication earned him the role of Supervisor in 2018, and in 2020 he was elected Councilor in Ilaje Local Government under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
But Hon. Ige is not just a politician. He is also a hands-on agribusiness entrepreneur with active investments in fish farming and tomato cultivation. He speaks from experience about the real challenges farmers face today, the high cost of irrigation, the pain of watching herdsmen destroy farm structures, and the struggle to retain reliable farm labour. Yet he remains undeterred, believing that solving these problems is key to food security and wealth creation.
Looking forward to the next five years, Hon. Ige Ebiwonjumi will continue his service to the people while expanding his enterprise. He is currently working on a pure water factory, with plans to launch two or more branches outside Akure. For him, leadership and business go hand in hand: both must create jobs, lift families, and strengthen communities. He is married and blessed with children.
The event will be chaired by Hon (Eng) Leye Akinola, Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture & Forestry, Ondo State. Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ondo State will deliver the keynote as Guest Speaker. *His Excellency Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State will grace the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.
D Chronicle Media Ventures says the 2026 awards are about more than plaques — they are about telling stories that inspire the next generation to see farming as a boardroom decision and agribusiness as a national duty.
