Tinubu’s Reforms Fuel Defections of Opposition Governors to APC — Aiyedatiwa
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has attributed the increasing wave of defections by opposition governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the far-reaching reforms being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during a statewide tour to appreciate party supporters, Aiyedatiwa said the reform agenda of the current administration has strengthened the APC and positioned it as a party of progress and effective governance.
According to the governor, visible development projects and policy reforms at the federal level have restored confidence in the ruling party, making it attractive to political leaders across party lines.
Aiyedatiwa noted that the tour was also aimed at mobilising grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid. He stressed the need for unity and cooperation within the party to sustain its growing influence nationwide.
He urged APC members to resolve internal disagreements amicably, emphasizing that tolerance and dialogue remain essential for party cohesion and electoral success.
The governor also commended the people of Ondo State for their continued support of his administration, noting that the APC recorded victories across all local government areas and currently holds a majority in the State House of Assembly.
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, collaboration and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents of the state as the party prepares for future elections.
