Tinubu Meets Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara in London Amid Political Crisis
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly held a secret meeting in London with suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, aiming to ease the political tension in the state. The meeting, which occurred after Tinubu’s trip to Paris, was requested by Fubara, who is seeking the president’s support to regain his office following a controversial suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers.

Sources say Fubara agreed to make significant compromises to restore stability. There’s also speculation he may defect to the ruling APC to strengthen ties with Tinubu and shift Rivers’ political balance.
Conspicuously absent from the talks was Minister of the FCT and former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, who is reportedly uneasy about being sidelined. A broader reconciliation meeting involving all key stakeholders is expected soon.
