SUSPENSION OF SCAVENGING AND SCRAP METAL OPERATIONS IN OKITIPUPA LGA
Following a recent incident within Okitipupa Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has ordered the indefinite suspension of all scavenging and scrap metal operations across the LGA.
This decisive action is in response to increasing security concerns associated with unregulated scavenging activities, often linked to itinerant individuals. The Chairman stressed that these operations, if not properly managed, pose a serious threat to public safety and vital infrastructure.
To further address these concerns, Hon. Ogunsakin has directed the immediate profiling of all scavengers and scrap metal operators within the Local Government. This effort will be carried out in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, with the goal of restoring order and promoting accountability.
Security operatives have been mandated to enforce this directive without exception. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Residents are urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative as the administration takes necessary steps to safeguard lives and property across the , Local Government Area.
