Speed Darlington Allegedly Flees Nigeria After NAPTIP Declares Him Wanted for R@pe, Cyberbullying

Controversial musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has reportedly left Nigeria shortly before the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) declared him wanted over serious allegations including r@pe, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

The move by NAPTIP followed a disturbing video the artist posted on Instagram, where he recounted an encounter involving a 15-year-old girl. In the viral clip, Speed Darlington claimed he paid a hotel staff ₦2,000 to clean blood-stained sheets after being with the underage girl.

“Before he could come change the sheet for me, I had to dash him ₦2,000 because… I told him to come and wash the bl++d that came out of the 15-year-old girl,” he said, referencing the incident as the reason he would never work in hospitality again.

Public outrage followed swiftly, prompting the singer to issue a denial on June 2. He posted a letter on Instagram distancing himself from any sexual misconduct, insisting that his comments were taken out of context.

Despite the denial, Speed Darlington was declared wanted, and shortly afterward, videos surfaced showing him allegedly leaving Nigeria. In one clip shared to his YouTube and Instagram accounts, he criticized Air Peace for a nine-hour layover but also mentioned being accommodated in a hotel. The caption indicated he had landed in New York, USA.

He was seen strolling through an airport with luggage, further fueling speculation that he fled to avoid arrest. As of now, NAPTIP and law enforcement authorities have not released an official update on efforts to locate or extradite him.
