Professor Taiwo Adewumi Set to Receive Agric Development Catalyst Award at the “Roots of Progress” Event in Ibadan
On November 20, 2024, renowned Agricultural Engineer and Academic, Professor Taiwo Adewumi, will be honored with the Agric Development Catalyst Award at an event themed “Roots of Progress: Recognizing Excellence in Agribusiness and Rural Development.”
This prestigious ceremony will be held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Oyo State, and will celebrate Adewumi’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde will attend as the Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the significance of this recognition within the context of Oyo State’s commitment to agricultural development.
The event is organized by Chronicle Media, a prominent media organization in Southwest Nigeria known for its efforts in recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to regional development.
Professor Adewumi’s journey is indeed noteworthy, beginning from a childhood influenced by his father’s work in agriculture, through his distinguished career that spans the U.S., Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Nigeria. After earning his first degree from California State Polytechnic University and returning to Nigeria, Professor Adewumi has led impactful projects across the agricultural spectrum, from mechanized farming to agricultural training and policy development.
As a Farm Power and Machinery consultant, his work at the Centre for Enterprise Development and Action Research (CEDAR) has set a new benchmark in sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by notable figures in the agricultural sector, including Prof. Olorunfemi Oladapo Ogundele from NISER, while the ceremony will be chaired by Honorable Commissioner, Bar. Olasunkanmi Olaleye of the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
