Police Probe Alleged Victims as Pastor Chris Okafor Declines SCID Invitation

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigations into allegations of rape and other related offences against the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, following his failure to honour an invitation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos.

Pastor Okafor was invited to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The invitation was issued after the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a thorough investigation into multiple complaints said to be capable of causing a breach of public peace.

Confirming the development in a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the command had received several petitions bordering on alleged sexual offences against the cleric, necessitating the formal invitation.

However, a senior police officer at the SCID revealed on Monday that the pastor failed to report as requested. According to the officer, detectives assigned to the case waited throughout the day but Okafor did not show up.

Following his absence, the police urged individuals who claimed to be victims to report to the SCID to assist ongoing investigations. The command assured that all complainants’ identities would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor gained public attention in mid-December 2025 after multiple allegations surfaced on social media. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala alleged in a series of Instagram videos that she had a prolonged sexual relationship with the cleric from 2017. She accused him of making unfulfilled promises of marriage, sharing explicit materials, and playing a role in the collapse of her previous marriage.

The allegations have since generated widespread debate within religious and public circles. Reports indicate that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may consider disciplinary action, while the pastor is also said to have stepped aside from his pastoral duties pending the outcome of the investigations.

Police authorities maintained that investigations are ongoing and assured that the matter would be handled in accordance with the law.
