Police Arrest Suspect Over Murder of 80-Year-Old Man in Delta
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old suspect, Alex Kehinde, in connection with the alleged murder of an 80-year-old man in the Asaba–Ogwashi area of Aniocha South Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on February 3, 2026, while the suspect was recently apprehended in Lagos following a technically driven investigation.
Police findings revealed that the elderly victim was found lifeless in his residence after being suffocated by the suspect and an accomplice identified simply as “Egbon,” who is currently at large.
Preliminary investigations showed that the deceased had planned to renovate his apartment and rent it out. He reportedly engaged the suspect and his accomplice for the job and paid them the sum of ₦200,000.
However, instead of carrying out the renovation, the suspects allegedly conspired to attack him. They reportedly took the victim upstairs in his home, where they assaulted him and covered his mouth with a mobile phone to prevent him from raising an alarm.
The victim was said to have suffocated during the attack and died at the scene.
Following the incident, the suspects allegedly fled with the victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone without seeking help.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice, while the arrested suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
