Police Arrest Suspect as Investigation Begins Into Death of Singer Destiny Boy
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of popular Nigerian singer, Adesina Afeez, professionally known as Destiny Boy.

The command confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the police had commenced a full probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of the 22-year-old artiste.
“The Ogun State Police Command has begun investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.
News of the singer’s death broke on Sunday following the circulation of videos on social media showing his lifeless body being conveyed to a mortuary. In one of the widely shared clips, the late artiste was seen lying at the back of a vehicle with cotton wool placed in his nostrils and ears, triggering widespread grief and speculation among fans and the public.
Amid the reactions, an associate of the singer released a separate video claiming that Destiny Boy had been battling a private health challenge prior to his death.
According to the associate, several efforts were made to save him, but the condition reportedly worsened, leading to his demise.
The police have assured the public that investigations will be thorough and transparent, urging members of the public to refrain from speculation while the inquiry continues.
