Owo Muslim Community Appoints Sheikh Yunus Anola as New Chief Imam
The Muslim community of Owo Kingdom has appointed Sheikh Yunus Abdullahi Anola as the new Grand Chief Imam, following the passing of the former holder of the position, Alhaji Ahmed Aladesawe.

Sheikh Anola, who previously served as Imam of the Ondo State Government House Mosque in Akure, was unanimously selected by Muslim leaders and community elders for his deep knowledge, humility, and commitment to Islamic teachings.
The late Alhaji Aladesawe, whose death created the vacancy, was a respected Islamic leader who also served as Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, as well as Secretary-General of the league across the Southwest, Edo, and Delta states.
Reacting to the appointment, members of the Muslim community expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the choice, describing Sheikh Anola as a worthy successor. “Alhamdulillah! We thank Allah that Owo Muslim community made the right decision,” one of the faithful said.
Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, also congratulated Sheikh Anola, calling his selection “well-deserved” and praising his reputation for truthfulness and service to humanity. He noted that the new Chief Imam’s influence cuts across both Muslim and Christian communities in Owo.
The formal turbaning ceremony of Sheikh Anola will be held soon, marking a new chapter in the religious leadership of the Owo Muslim community.
