OSOPADEC 2025 budget scales through second reading, commits to committee stage

The over Thirty-three billion naira year 2025 budget estimates of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC), has been committed to Committee stage after presentation by the State government.

The bill appropriated the sum of thirty-three billion, eight hundred and sixty million naira (N33,860,000,000.00) only, out of which the sum of four billion, seven hundred and forty-seven million, six hundred and fifty thousand naira (N4,747,650,000.00) only, is for recurrent expenditure, while the balance of twenty-nine billion, one hundred and twelve million, five Hundred thousand naira (N29,112,500,000.00) only, is for capital expenditure for the services of Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) for the year ending 2025.

The State House of Assembly committed the bill to the House Ahoc- Committees on OSOPADEC for proper scrutiny and to report back to the house in two weeks after scaling through the second reading at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji.

The Lawmaker representing Ese Odo State Consituency, Hon Messiah Allen affirmed that the year 2025 budget estimate when passed into law would go a long way to improve the living standard of the people of the coastal Area.

Hon. Allen Messiah, member representing Ese-Odo constituency, noted that the bill after being passed will boost the economy of the State, urging the committee to consider infrastructural facilities like schools, health centers,

Also Hon Fayemi obayelu lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency ii, informed that the bill should be critically evaluated and passed with due process as the most challenged are the women, oil spillage on the water thereby making life difficult for the people, stressing that the intervention of OSOPADEC will go a long way in assisting the people.

Also speaking Hon. Chris Ogunlana, member representing Irele constituency noted that the budget this time, brought all the local governments in the area together.

Other lawmakers averred that their should be accountability and prudency for the mandate areas to get the best.

Consequently, a bill for a law to amend the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo, Ondo State Law, 2019 scales through first reading.
