Open Letter to His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State

Dear Governor Aiyedatiwa,

I am compelled to write this open letter to you due to the bureaucracy involved in securing an audience with Your Excellency and the potential presence of forces that may not share the same enthusiasm for this agenda. As a concerned citizen and stakeholder in the development of Ondo State, I believe it is essential to make my appeal public and transparent.

I respectfully urge you to fulfill the long-standing desire of your predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, to upgrade Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to Ondo State University, Owo, without further delay. This move is overdue, and its benefits are multifaceted. By taking this step, you will be writing your name in gold and cementing your legacy as a leader who prioritizes education and development.

The upgrade will significantly boost the economy of Owo, creating new opportunities for businesses and employment. The institution’s growth will attract more students, scholars, and researchers, injecting fresh capital into the local economy. This, in turn, will stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and progress, making Owo a hub of academic and economic excellence.

Furthermore, the upgrade will increase enrollment in the institution, which is currently underwhelming. As a university, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic will attract more students from across Nigeria and beyond, drawn by its enhanced reputation and offerings. This influx of students will not only enrich the academic environment but also contribute to the local economy through their presence and activities.

Additionally, the upgrade will enhance the institution’s internally generated revenue (IGR), making it less dependent on state funding. With autonomy and financial independence, the university can explore new revenue streams, partnerships, and initiatives, reducing its reliance on government subventions. This, in turn, will enable the institution to invest in its staff, infrastructure, and research, driving innovation and excellence.

Moreover, this move will demonstrate your commitment to democracy and the development of the Owo/Akokos senatorial district. By fulfilling the desire of your predecessor and the people of Owo, you will show that you are a leader who listens and responds to the needs of your constituents. This will not only earn you their gratitude and support but also inspire confidence in your administration’s ability to deliver on its promises.

Furthermore, the upgrade will be a significant campaign point for the forthcoming governorship election, showcasing your ability to fulfill the desires of your predecessor and your hometown. By delivering on this promise, you will demonstrate your capacity to drive change, progress, and development, making a strong case for your re-election.

In conclusion, I warmly greet and encourage you to take this crucial step without delay. Upgrading Rufus Giwa Polytechnic to Ondo State University, Owo, will be a landmark achievement, boosting the economy, education, and development of Ondo State. Your Excellency, I urge you to seize this opportunity to write your name in the annals of history as a champion of education and progress.

By making this an open letter, I hope to mobilize public support and scrutiny, ensuring that this critical matter receives the attention it deserves. I believe that the people of Ondo State and stakeholders in the education sector should be aware of this initiative and hold you accountable for its implementation.

Sincerely,

Akinuli Bankole Olu
A Concern Citizen and Staff of the Polytechnic

Spread the love
