In its continued efforts to resolve land disputes across Ondo State, the State House of Assembly has appealed to aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and allow the legislative body to reach a resolution that will provide lasting solutions to land-related crises in the state.

Speaking during a hearing of the ad-hoc committee on public petitions and fraudulent activities related to land disputes, the committee chairman, Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, stated that the committee was set up to maintain law and order.
Hon. Gbegudu emphasised that the Assembly would not permit the wanton disruption of lives and properties due to misunderstandings over land ownership.
According to him, the House of Assembly, as a representative of the people, will continue to defend the common man and stand for the interests of the public.
Similarly, a member of the committee, Hon. Stephen Abitogun, stressed that every citizen is bound by regulations and rules to ensure order in society.
Hon. Abitogun, who represents Akure South Constituency 2, assured that the legislative arm would strategise and collaborate with security agencies and other major stakeholders to encourage individuals to uphold existing peace.
The lawmaker, who decried the scale of loss of lives and properties due to land disputes across the state, urged individuals to see themselves as brothers and sisters. He added that there are civil ways to settle conflicts rather than resorting to violence.
