Ondo Assembly Speaker Bags Excellence Award in Public Service

Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, on Saturday, added another feather to his cap as he was honoured with the Legion of Excellence in Public Service Award by The Chronicle Media Ventures.

The dual ceremony, held in Akure, attracted top government officials, captains of industry, media professionals, and members of the public.
The event, which marked the 50th birthday of the Chief Executive Officer of the media outfit, Mr. Olaseeni Oyesusi, and the organisation’s 12th anniversary, had as its theme: “Accountability and Transparency: Keys to Fulfilling Election Promises in Public Service.”
Presenting the award to the lawmaker, the publisher of the magazine, Mr. Oyesusi, said the honour was in recognition of Oladiji’s sterling record of legislative leadership, grassroots development, and unwavering commitment to the people of Ondo State.
He explained that the process was based entirely on a thorough assessment of the Speaker’s performance in delivering dividends of democracy.
According to him, Oladiji’s leadership journey is a blend of political service, entrepreneurial achievement, and educational advocacy.
The CEO reaffirmed the organisation’s mission to spotlight excellence, reward service, and inspire leaders who put the people first.
Responding, Speaker Olamide Oladiji thanked Chronicle Magazine for the honour, describing it as symbolic. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to promoting the interests of his constituents at all times.
The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, who led other principal officers and members including Majority Leader, Hon. Chief Olatunji Oshati; Minority Leader, Hon. Olajide Oguntodu; Parliamentary Secretary, Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju; Chief Whip, Hon. Murtala Mohammed; Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Oluwatoyin Japhet; Deputy Parliamentary Secretary, Hon. Primate Oluwatoyin Allen; Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa; and Hon. Kolawole Ologede, affirmed that the Speaker is a great pillar in the State Assembly. They noted that the honour was well-deserved, given his experience and antecedents as an exemplary parliamentarian.
Also, the Assembly Correspondent working with The Chronicle, Elizabeth Aduramigba Oyeniwa, received an award at the event.
Other notable individuals in the state were also honoured for their contributions to the development of the state and humanity.
Highlights of the event included the cutting of the birthday cake and the launch of a new book.
