Ondo Assembly Reiterates Support for Amotekun Corps Amid Rising Insecurity

The Ondo State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Amotekun Corps in its fight against insecurity in the state.
The house affirmed this during a visit to the Amotekun headquarters in Akure.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Security and Community Development, Hon Olatunji Ifabiyi, assured the corps of robust legislative backing.
He emphasized the need for continuous review of existing laws to enhance the corps’ operational efficiency.
“Ifabiyi said, “We’ll work together to strengthen your organization through improved laws. We’re here to understand your structure, challenges, and how we can collaborate.”
Amotekun Commandant, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, thanked the Assembly for its consistent support, highlighting the corps’ achievements, including over 20,000 arrests and successful prosecutions.
The visiting lawmakers, led by Hon Ifabiyi, commended the corps for its successes in combating kidnapping and other crimes, noting a significant decline in incidents.
Vice Chairman of the committee, Hon Oluwatoyin Allen, alongside other members including Hon Christopher Ogunlana, Hon Tope Agbulu, Hon Afe Felix, and Hon Oluwatoyin Japhet, also commended the corps for its recent successes in combating kidnapping and other crimes.
They noted a significant decline in criminal incidents, especially in Akure and Akoko North areas.
