Ondo Assembly Holds Special Plenary to Honour Former Lawmaker, Aladekoye Emmanuel

The Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday held a special plenary session in honour of a former lawmaker, Hon. Aladekoye Emmanuel Adeolu, who served in the Third Legislative Assembly.

Hon. Aladekoye represented Irele Constituency between 1992 and 1993. The solemn session, held in his memory, attracted current and former lawmakers, family members, and other well-wishers who gathered in the hallowed chamber to pay their last respects.

Presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, the special sitting highlighted the impactful life and service of the late legislator.

The Leader of the House, Hon. Chief Olatunji Oshati, representing Ose Constituency, moved the motion for members to deliver tributes and orations in honour of the deceased, in line with legislative tradition. The motion was seconded by Hon. Fatai Atere, representing Akoko North-West Constituency 1.

In their remarks, members described the late Hon. Aladekoye as a dedicated, purposeful, and community-driven public servant whose contributions to legislative development and grassroots progress remain commendable.

Speaker Oladiji expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the late lawmaker and to Hon. (Dr.) Chris Ogunlana, the member representing Irele Constituency, who served as Chief Mourner. He noted that “whatever has a beginning must surely have an end,” describing Hon. Aladekoye as an astute politician and a peaceful man whose records in the chamber made him widely respected.

He urged the children and family members to uphold their father’s legacies, adding that his service to the people of Irele Local Government would continue to speak for generations.

Speaking about the life and times of the late lawmaker, Hon. Dr. Christopher Ogunlana highlighted his educational and professional journey, noting that Hon. Aladekoye was born on May 7, 1953.He worked as a teacher in various institutions before venturing into politics, where he was elected under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the 1992–1993 dispensation.

Hon. Oshati, in his tribute, emphasised the value of living a life worthy of remembrance. He advised the children to uphold their father’s virtues, describing the honour accorded to him by the Assembly as a rare privilege reserved only for distinguished individuals.

A former lawmaker who served during the Third Assembly, Hon. Idowu Omole, described death as inevitable, noting that the late Hon. Aladekoye lived a fulfilled and impactful life. He urged the family to sustain his good name and expressed appreciation to the Assembly for honouring their departed colleague.

In his contribution, Hon. Stephen Abitigun, representing Akure South Constituency 2, said the late lawmaker belonged to an era of progressive politics that demanded high integrity and character from public office holders. He commended his record in education and community development, noting that the tributes reflected a life well lived.

The plenary session ended with a minute of silence observed in honour of Hon. Aladekoye Emmanuel Adeolu.
