The Ondo State House of Assembly has concluded the second phase of its screening exercise for commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, with the nominees expressing readiness to serve and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
Among those screened were professionals from various sectors, all pledging their commitment to the current administration’s agenda.
Dr Banji Ajaka, a former Commissioner, acknowledged the challenges confronting the healthcare system in the state, likening them to global trends. He assured the Assembly of his preparedness to tackle issues ranging from human resources to drug availability and infrastructural development if confirmed.
“In the health sector all over the world, there are challenges. Ondo State is not an exception. We are ready to confront these challenges frontally, especially in the area of human resources. We are going to approach it with a robust strategy,” he said.
He described the screening process as fair, objective, and honest, noting that it was a frank discussion among stakeholders.
Also speaking, Pastor Bola Ademuwagun, an economist, praised the Assembly for its thoroughness during the session.
“It was a marvellous session. The House asked deep questions. I believe I have something to contribute from my political and professional experience. Whichever portfolio I’m given, I will perform. I’ve always brought results home, and this time won’t be different,” he stated.
Another nominee, Adesoji Afolabi, expressed confidence in his readiness to serve, citing his alignment with the current administration’s agenda.
“The screening was very thorough. They checked the authenticity of my certificates and asked about governance. I’ve been part of the APC and the EASE Agenda. Now I’m coming into government officially, and I’m ready to key in fully,” he affirmed.
Similarly, Akinola Emmanuel Olaleye, a business analyst and project manager, expressed gratitude for the cordial and objective screening process.
“They focused on how I would contribute to the administration’s agenda and uplift the living standards of our people. There is no area Mr Governor places me that I won’t perform excellently, by the grace of God,” he said.
With the conclusion of this second phase of the screening, the Assembly is expected to soon proceed to the final stage, which is the confirmation of nominees.
