The Ondo State House of Assembly has charged Industries to develop anti-piracy security devices to combat intellectual property theft and protect its products from piracy.

This charge was made during a working visit by the House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry to Benid Industries Limited in Ugbe Akoko.
The committee, led by Chairman Hon. Barr. Afe Felix, commended the company for its commitment to quality, innovation, and job creation in the community.
The lawmakers urged the company to explore developing anti-piracy security devices, citing piracy as a significant challenge facing many Nigerian industries.
Other committee members, including Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju and Hon. Dr. Ogunlana Christopher, commended the company for adding value to the state’s economy.
They emphasized the need for the company to use safe raw materials and conduct thorough laboratory tests on its products before releasing them for human consumption.
The lawmakers also advised the company to produce only registered products.
Earlier, the company’s CEO, Dr. Idoko Chukwuma, briefed the committee on the company’s history and operations.
He stated that the Industries was established in 2001 by himself and his two brothers and has since expanded its product line to include beverages and liquor drinks, with plans to venture into groundnut oil, cosmetics, and quarrying soon.
Dr. Chukwuma assured the lawmakers that the company is committed to paying its dues to the government and maintaining high standards for its staff.
He revealed that the company sources raw materials from reputable and registered companies.
The CEO pleaded for government support to enable the company to expand its business internationally.
“We’re excited about the potential for collaboration and look forward to working with the government and other stakeholders to achieve our goals and contribute to Ondo State’s development,” he said.
