Olute Ruling House Succession Claim, Misleading and Unfounded

The Olule ruling house wishes to categorically refute a recent media report claiming that four princes have been shortlisted for succession to the vacant Olute of Ute stool in Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State. This report is entirely false and misleading.

A meeting was indeed held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Olute’s Palace in Ute. However, the meeting was presided over by Mr. Benjamen Olu Osebayowa, who was also a candidate, thereby raising serious concerns about conflict of interest and impartiality. This was challenged by Mr. Mustapha Omoloja, who questioned how Mr. Benjamin Osebayowa could preside over the meeting while being a contestant himself.

The meeting failed to reach a conclusive decision due to concerns over fairness, transparency, and the legitimacy of the process. Security agents were present, and it is noteworthy that the meeting ended without any agreement being reached. In fact, the food and drinks provided were not even touched, underscoring the tense and inconclusive nature of the gathering.

Furthermore, we question the claim that Prince Abimbola Omoloja was unanimously adopted to represent the family. We are unaware of any meeting where such a decision was made, and we demand to know when, where, and who presided over such a meeting.

The traditional selection process for the Olute of Ute is well-established, and the Afobajes (kingmakers) are responsible for electing the next Olute. Any attempts to undermine this process will be resisted through every legal means available to us.

We urge the public to disregard the online report, which appears to be baseless propaganda. The Olule ruling house remains committed to upholding the traditions and customs of our ancestors, and we will ensure that the selection process is fair, transparent, and in accordance with our cultural heritage.

Signed:

Prince Mustapha Omoloja
Secretary, Omoloja Royal Dynasty
