ODF Founder: Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan to Receive Philanthropic Champion Award

Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan, a philanthropist and founder of the ODF Foundation from Ekiti State, is set to receive Philanthropic Champion Award on December 22, 2024. This recognition is in acknowledgment of his substantial contributions to humanity.

The award ceremony is organized by the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (AINPN), Ondo State Chapter. It will take place at the OSDPC Multi-Purpose Events Center in Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State.

The theme of the event’s lecture is “Unintended Consequences of Oil Deregulation: The Impacts on Nigerians and Lessons for the Financial Sector.” The discourse will be presented by Barrister Banjo Aiyenakin, Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, Akure Branch, Ondo State and will be chaired by Professor Dayo Faduyile, a former National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

In addition to his political career, Hon. Opeyemi Falegan serves as an officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF) in Britain. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Lead City University and later obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the London School of Commerce.

As part of his benevolent efforts, he established the ODF Foundation, which focuses on empowering women, widows, and the elderly. The foundation also supports educational initiatives, a free health mission scheme, youth empowerment, and agricultural assistance for farmers.

To alleviate the suffering caused by economic challenges in Nigeria, Falegan has promised to make a positive impact on the lives of Ekiti residents. He intends to distribute cooking gas to all government workers in Ido, Usi, Osin, Igbole, and Ayetoro on December 15, 2024. This distribution of free cooking gas is part of the foundation’s commitment to helping the people of Ekiti. The exercise will take place at Sentax Energy Nigeria Ltd. Usi Ekiti, and he assured that all civil servants in the 16 local government area of the state will benefit from it.

The Commissioner for Information in Ondo State, Hon. Adewale Akinlosotu, will serve as the Chief Host, while the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will be the Special Guest of Honour.

As part of his outreach, Hon. Falegan has also pledged to provide free fuel to motorists in Ekiti State on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Adekatan Filling Station in Adehun, along Adebayo in Ekiti State.

Due to his significant impact on many people’s lives, Hon. Opeyemi has received numerous awards and commendations from various organizations, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), PDP Progressive, the Federation of Ekiti Student Union, the Opomulero Group, E-16, and the Achievers Award.
