MC Tagwaye Dumps APC for SDP, Citing Betrayal of Ideals
Renowned entertainer, business mogul, politician, and youth leader Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has officially left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Announcing his defection on Friday morning in Abuja, Tagwaye revealed that his decision followed months of deep consultation and reflection. A former member of the APC’s presidential campaign team, he stated that his departure was driven by a firm belief that the party had strayed from its founding principles and no longer prioritized the welfare and progress of Nigerians.
He criticized the APC for lacking a reward system for loyal members, maintaining a gerontocratic leadership structure, and implementing policies that worsen hardship for low-income earners. Additionally, he condemned the party’s compromised internal democracy, where a few power brokers control decision-making at the expense of the majority.
“In stark contrast, the SDP has emerged as a beacon of hope, with its unwavering commitment to the youth, internal democracy, transparency, and accountability,” Tagwaye stated. “The party’s vision for a new Nigeria, where the welfare and progress of all citizens are paramount, resonates deeply with me.”
He confirmed that he had officially resigned from the APC and urged like-minded Nigerians to join him in supporting the SDP to build a better future.
