Man Charged with Stealing Church’s Generator
A 30-year-old man, Babatunde Gbenga, has been formally charged in an Iwaro-Oka Magistrate’s Court for the theft of a generator valued at N515,000, owned by St. Clara Catholic Church in Owalusi, Iwaro Oka Akoko, Ondo State.

The police have brought the defendant before Magistrate B. A. Ikusika on a two-count charge of stealing.
The prosecution asserts that the defendant committed the crime on May 15, 2024, around 12 PM at St. Clara Catholic Church. Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, representing the prosecution, stated unequivocally that the defendant stole a Generator Amature valued at N100,000, which is the property of St. Clara Catholic Church. Additionally, it was alleged that the defendant unlawfully entered the church premises and took the following items: one alternator, one kick start for a SP 18 Mikano generator, and one Smartek 3800E2 portable generator engine, totaling N415,000 in value.
These actions violate Sections 383 (1) and 410 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
In court, the prosecutor, Boboye, demanded an adjournment to thoroughly review the case file. The defendant’s attorney, Ikare Lawrence, did not challenge this request.
Magistrate B. A. Ikusika granted the adjournment, and the trial will proceed.
