Lagos Launches Investigation Into Death of Twin Babies After Routine Immunisation
The Lagos State Government has ordered a thorough investigation into the death of nine-month-old twin boys who reportedly died less than 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a public health facility in the state.

The twins were taken to a primary healthcare centre in the Ajangbadi area of Ojo Local Government for their scheduled vaccination. According to their father, the babies appeared healthy before the exercise but became weak and unusually inactive shortly after the injections.
He explained that medical advice given at the health centre was followed, including administering prescribed medication and monitoring the children at home. However, their condition reportedly worsened overnight, and they were discovered dead the following morning.
The incident, which occurred on Christmas Day, has generated widespread public concern after videos showing the lifeless bodies of the twins circulated on social media, prompting calls for accountability and transparency.
In response, the Lagos State Government directed relevant health authorities to commence a full investigation, including a post-mortem examination, to determine the actual cause of death. Officials said security agencies and health professionals are working together to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
The state’s Primary Health Care authorities expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and appealed for calm, assuring the public that the outcome of the investigation will be made known once concluded. They also noted that routine immunisation remains a critical public health measure and that the probe is necessary to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
The twins’ remains have been deposited at a government morgue pending the completion of medical examinations, as investigations continue to reassure the public and address growing concerns over child healthcare safety in the state.
