JUNE 12 CELEBRATION:ONDO SPEAKER, OLADIJI STRESSES THE NEED TO UPHOLD THE IDEALS OF DEMOCRACY.
As Nigeria marks this year’s June 12 celebration,the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly,Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji has admonished citizens of Nigeria to uphold the ideals of democracy in order to justify the objective of the celebration.
Expressing this in a press statement made available to journalists today in Akure,the Speaker described June 12 as a symbol of the unwavering will of the Nigerian people, their quest for justice and the enduring hope for a truly democratic society.
“Today,we celebrate not only the resilience of our democratic institutions, but also the courage of Nigerians who have continued to defend the values of freedom, equity and good governance”,the statement read.
While lauding the President of Nigeria,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu(GCFR) for his steadfast commitment to national unity, economic revitalization and good governance,the Speaker prayed for the continued progress and harmony in the country.
He expressed appreciation to those who fought for a free and fair democratic process, especially late(Chief)Moshood Kashimawo Abiola whose victory in June 12,1993 subsequently became a turning point in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Oladiji, later used the occasion to express gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State,Dr.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for bringing significant growth and development to the Sunshine State.
The Speaker, wished all Nigerians,particularly the people of Ondo State a happy June 12 celebration.
