IKUN-AKOKO DAY 2025: A Celebration of Unity, Culture, and Progress

The Ikun Progressive Union (IPU) is pleased to announce the commencement of Ikun-Akoko Day 2025 celebrations, scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Ajagbokun High School Ground, Ikun-Akoko, Ondo State.

According to the President of the Ikun Progressive Union (IPU) National, Elder Orimijua Titus, FCA, revealed at a press conference in Akure, he said this year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, unity, and resilience of the Ikun-Akoko community. The theme, “Working Together for Unity, Peace, and Development of Community,” reflects the community’s commitment to progress and cooperation.

Highlights of the Event

The Ikun-Akoko Day 2025 celebration will feature a range of exciting activities, including:

  • Inter-Quarters annual football tournament, culminating in a final match on the penultimate Friday, August 15, 2025, followed by a traditional game of “Ayo Olopon”
  • Cultural performances and parade by age groups and clubs
  • Launching of a N32 million fund for community development projects
  • Traditional Yam eating fiesta and commissioning of Ajagbokun High School’s main gate, constructed by Lead Way Club of Ikun-Akoko
  • Inter-denominational prayers at the market arena and thanksgiving service at Holy Trinity Church, Ikun-Akoko, as well as a special Jumu’at prayer at the Central Mosque, Ikana Ikun-Akoko
  • Awards to recognize and support youths, elderly, and the best-behaved three youths in the community
  • Miss Ikun Day, beauty pageant is also part of the program

Objective

The objective of Ikun-Akoko Day 2025 is to promote community cohesion, celebrate the community’s cultural heritage, and showcase its progress and potential. The event aims to bring together residents, friends, clubs, associations, and Omo Ikun Tile Toko to celebrate the community’s achievements and strengthen bonds.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is the Special Guest of Honour while Mr Ayo Owoeye is the Chairman, Oba Olugbenga Ajimokunola, Iralepo of Isinkan Land is the Royal Father and Dr Olumuyiwa Adu is the Chief Launcher.
