How A Middle-Age Mother Of 5 Was Set Ablaze By Her Husband In Akure
A middle-aged housewife and mother of 5, Mrs Dorcas Daniyan was said to have been set ablaze by her husband in Shagari village area of Akure, the capital of Ondo State during the week.
It was gathered that the woman was rushed to the hospital after the incident but gave up three days later, as a result of the gravity of the injury sustained.
The mother of five could not recover from the aftermath of the unfortunate incident and later died in an undisclosed hospital in the state capital.
An eye witness who is a neighbor to the deceased spoke on condition of anonymity said that people forced the door to the woman’s room open in a bid to rescue her, but she had burnt beyond recognition before she was taken to the hospital.
It was alleged that her husband ran away from home when the incident took place and returned three days after her death.
Sources close to the couple said they were at loggerheads when Dorcas decided to buy a piece of land without adding her husband’s name as co-owner.
While confirming the incident, the younger sister of the deceased, Bosede Richards recounted how her late sister told her about the land issue.
The spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph said that the suspect has been arrested for interrogation.
Mr Joseph said that the suspect is claiming to be innocent. He also said that the suspect’s daughter had made some statements that could link the suspect to the crime.
The police spokesman said the perpetrator will be prosecuted.
Mrs Dorcas Daniyan has been buried but the family are calling for justice.
