Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to Receive Sunshine Standard’s Pillar of Good Governance Award

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State is set to be honoured with the illustrious “Pillar of Good Governance” Award by Sunshine Standard Magazine, a distinguished publication based in Ondo State. This recognition is coming on the heels of his exceptional stewardship and commitment to transforming the lives of the people of Ondo State through his populist policies and programmes.

In a statement released by Oludaisi Adetarami, the magazine’s publisher, the award is described as an acknowledgment of the Governor’s outstanding achievements since assuming office on December 27, 2023. “Since Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa took office in December 2023, following the passing of his predecessor, the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, he has emerged as a beacon of progress and innovation. His governance has been marked by an impressive array of achievements and ambitious initiatives, positioning him as a formidable force in the state’s evolution,” Adetarami remarked.

Adetarami further illuminated the Governor’s accomplishments: “For instance, his administration’s rehabilitation of 120 km of roads, coupled with the approval of new major routes like the 28 km Akotogbo-Iju-Osun-FTZ Road, is revitalizing both urban and rural landscapes alike. The allocation of 3.4 billion Naira for projects such as the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project and the Light-Up Akure initiative signals a bold step towards modernizing the state’s infrastructure.”

The award ceremony, themed “Ondo State Icons: Celebrating Influence and Impact,” is scheduled to take place at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 3 pm.

This grand event will not only spotlight Governor Aiyedatiwa but will also celebrate other illustrious Ondo State indigenes who have made significant contributions in various fields, including politics, business, oil & gas, banking, and academia.

A major highlight of the ceremony will be a public lecture titled “Driving Economic Growth and Sustainability in Ondo State: The Roles of Indigenes, Home and Abroad,” to be delivered by Professor Williams Aderounmu, Chairman Governing Council, Federal University Kashare, Gombe State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa is anticipated to engage in a lively interactive session with select groups of Ondo State indigenes residing in Lagos and beyond, offering a platform for fruitful dialogue on the state’s future.
