Fowoso Has Done Well For Women In Ondo State – Ondo First Lady

The founder of Fowoso, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu noted that celebrating the fifth summit signifies that FOWOSO has truly come of Age and quite evidently, FOWOSO has done well for women in Ondo State.

Wife of Ondo State Governor, Her  Excellency Chief Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu made this known during the opening ceremony of the fifth summit of the Foundation for Wives of Ondo State Officials and Female political Appointees (FOWOSO),Theme:” Living A Life Of Purpose” at the International cultural and event centre  (The Dome) Igbatoro Road,Akure,Ondo State on 6th wednesday December 2023.

Mrs Betty Akeredolu furthermore said FOWOSO have been able to elevate the socio-economic status of women as opposed to the dark years of tokenism and the absurd hiring of women as man hailers.

Betty Anyanwu explained that FOWOSO has added inches to women’s economic heights and strengthened homes through various empowerment initiatives. 

The First Lady said that she would continue to complement the government’s efforts in ensuring that gender-based violence remains a punishable offense in Ondo State with the aid of Violence Against Persons Prohibition’s law (VAPP).

“it is a purposive strategy for inspiring the womenfolk to be deliberate about growth and impact on all fronts, to always strive to bridge the gender gap in Nigeria’s political space.” She said.

Remarks by Special Guest of Honor Senator representing Ondo south senatorial district, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim noted this initiative has helped women and girl child to cover social gaps ( BEMORE/ FOWOSO) dedicated to the prosperity of women folk.

Dr. Jimoh ibrahim urged her Excellency Betty Anyanwu to keep fowoso going to continue its impactful strides in the society and people to support the fowoso legacy building in process, courageous project which is important for people to ensure fowoso is encouraged.

Ibrahim, who donated N20 million to the development of FOWOSO building project, said that participation in politics required knowledge and education.

According to Jimoh, The illiterate level of women is 76 per cent, means that women are not educated as today by the world data and it shows that 18 per cent of women are educated.

Also, in her Keynote Address, Pastor Funke Felix Adejumo stated living a life of purpose transcends more existence and we embrace the call to live lives of purpose with a profound understanding.

“We explore the practical steps towards living a purposeful life and let us remember that our societal norms may attempt to define us.You are not disadvantaged for being a woman, stop standing behind. “she said.
