Feared Assassin ‘Olori Eso’ Arraigned Over Mushin Killings After 14-Year Reign of Terror

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a notorious suspected assassin, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as “Olori Eso,” before the Ogba Magistrate Court over a series of gruesome killings and violent crimes that terrorised Mushin and neighbouring communities for over 14 years.

The 44-year-old, described by authorities as one of Lagos’ most feared hired killers, was arrested in a covert operation in Agbado, Ogun State, after years of evading law enforcement. His capture follows a decade-long manhunt tagged “Silence, Speed and Surprise”, aimed at dismantling his network of assassins and gang members.

Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin said Akinwande faces 11-count charges, including multiple murders, attempted homicide, cult-related killings, kidnappings, armed robberies, and illegal possession of firearms.

According to police investigations, Akinwande allegedly masterminded several high-profile killings between 2009 and 2024, including:

The murder of Bankole Yusuf and Ramadan Yusuf on July 31, 2024, in Mushin;

The fatal shooting of 10-year-old Aminat Lateef in Fadeyi on December 9, 2010;

A violent clash in Idi-Araba involving AK-47 rifles, which left five people dead and forced him to flee Lagos;

A brutal attack on 58-year-old Awawu Ajalara, who suffered permanent injuries after being shot in both legs.

During his arrest, police recovered a large cache of weapons from his hideout, including:

Two AK-47 rifles

One K2 assault rifle

One Red Ryder rifle

Three pump-action rifles

Two locally made pistols

Nine international passports

Over 150 rounds of ammunition, multiple magazines, a dagger, and walkie-talkies

Four families have already identified Akinwande as responsible for the deaths of their relatives, with police urging other victims’ families to come forward.

The suspect is being held under tight security as investigations continue to track down accomplices and other members of his syndicate.

The Lagos State Police Command described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on violent crime and gang killings in the state.
