Bwala Predicts Mass Defections to APC, Mocks Opposition Unity Efforts

Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide to President Bola Tinubu, has asserted that nearly all members of Nigeria’s opposition parties are on the verge of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). His statement follows the high-profile defections of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former governor Ifeanyi Okowa from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Commenting via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bwala wrote, “Delta in the bag, almost all opposition members are coming, including a former vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election.” He expressed confidence that more defections are on the way.

Bwala, who previously served as a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign, also criticized the current efforts by opposition leaders to form a united front. He described the alliance led by Atiku and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as a “coalition of confusing confusion.”

Downplaying the strength of opposition parties, he concluded, “There are only two political parties in Nigeria; APC and others.”

His remarks have sparked widespread reactions and intensified the debate on the strength and future of Nigeria’s opposition, especially as the political scene begins to heat up ahead of the 2027 general elections.
