Amotekun Parades 35 Suspects, Busts Kidnapping Ring in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has paraded 35 suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the state, including kidnapping, human trafficking, rape, and other related offences.

The suspects were arrested in different parts of the state’s 18 local government areas during coordinated operations carried out within a week. They were subsequently presented at the corps’ headquarters in Akure.

Speaking during the parade, the State Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the suspects were linked to multiple criminal offences. According to him, a breakdown of the arrests revealed that 19 suspects were apprehended for breach of law and order, 11 for kidnapping, three for human trafficking, and two for rape.

The commander further revealed that the corps uncovered a kidnapping network operating within the state, leading to the arrest of several individuals connected to the crime. Some of the suspects were said to have been involved in coordinated attacks and abduction operations across different locations.

In one of the cases, suspects linked to human trafficking allegedly defrauded a victim of a large sum of money under the false promise of facilitating travel abroad. The victim was reportedly held against their will for several days before escaping and reporting the incident.

The corps also recorded successes in other operations, including the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of individuals involved in motorcycle theft. Some suspects were said to have attacked commercial riders, stolen their motorcycles, and dismantled them for sale as spare parts.

According to the commander, ongoing enforcement measures—particularly the restriction on night-time motorcycle operations—have contributed to a noticeable reduction in crimes such as house break-ins and related offences.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response efforts to combat insecurity across the state, warning that individuals involved in criminal activities will be apprehended and brought to justice.
