Aiyedatiwa Pays Condolence Visit to Akinkugbe Family Over Parents’ Demise
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has paid a condolence visit to the Akinkugbe family following the passing of Professor Oludolapo Ibukun Akinkugbe and Mrs. Janet Oladunni Akinkugbe.

During the visit to the family’s residence on Victoria Island, Lagos, the governor described the death of the couple as a great loss, not only to their family but also to the medical, educational, and public service sectors in Nigeria.
Governor Aiyedatiwa extolled the contributions of the late Professor Akinkugbe, noting his pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, particularly his involvement in setting up its Pharmacy Department.
“His presence is still with us. For our humanity, for our communities, the medical sector, and the educational sector, he played a major role,” the governor said.
Reflecting on the couple’s near-simultaneous passing, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the pain of the loss but urged the family to take comfort in their parents’ impactful legacy.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Yinka Akinkugbe expressed appreciation to the governor for the visit, noting that his late father always supported good governance irrespective of political affiliation.
The visit underscored the governor’s commitment to honoring individuals who made significant contributions to society and encouraging their families to uphold their legacies.
