Adetokunbo Modupe Resigns from PDP, Cites Leadership Failure
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a major political setback as Adetokunbo Modupe, the party’s 2023 Northern Senatorial Candidate and a serving Member of the Southwest Executive Committee, has formally resigned from the party.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP, Ute Ward 12, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Modupe announced his decision to withdraw his membership from the party with immediate effect.
He attributed his exit to what he described as the party’s steady decline, blaming it on “leadership indiscretion”, a phrase that signals deep internal dissatisfaction within the opposition party’s ranks.
“This becomes necessary as the party appears to have drifted into the abyss due to leadership indiscretion,” Modupe stated in the letter.
The development is considered a significant blow to the PDP in Ondo State and the wider South-West region, given Modupe’s influence, political reach, and recent prominence in the party’s senatorial contest.
Political analysts say the resignation may further intensify the PDP’s internal crisis at a time when the party is struggling to stabilize its structures and regain national relevance.
As of the time of filing this report, the PDP leadership at the ward, state, and national levels has yet to issue an official response.
