It was a day of heartfelt tributes, deep gratitude, and historic reflections as friends, family, dignitaries, and colleagues gathered on the 5th of June, 2025 to honor Pastor Dr. Francis Lolade Oki, who marked his 60th birthday and retirement from the Ondo State education service in a grand ceremony at Comprehensive High School, Ilara-Mokin.
The atmosphere was one of celebration and reverence as the celebrant’s wife, Pastor (Mrs) Foluke Oki, described her husband as “a gentle man to the core and a real man who never jokes with anything that concerns his home.” Her words painted the picture of a man deeply committed not just to his profession, but also to his family and values.

In his royal tribute, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abiodun Adeyemi Adefehinti, the Alara of Ilara, hailed Dr. Oki as “a game-changer,” noting that despite spending just a year at the school, he made “unprecedented achievements” that have set new standards for educational leadership.
In the educational sector, accolades poured in as ANCOPSS Ondo State Branch extended warm congratulations. Representing the body, Otunba A. Famakinwa (PhD), State Secretary, lauded Dr. Oki’s “unwavering commitment, tireless efforts, wisdom, and exemplary leadership,” adding that his legacy would inspire generations to come.
In his emotional farewell speech, Dr. Oki, visibly moved, gave all glory to God. “I came, I saw—whether I conquered or not, let history judge,” he humbly declared, emphasizing a scandal-free 28-year career marked by professionalism, humility, and joy.
He highlighted landmark achievements during his short but impactful tenure as Principal, including:
The first-ever JSS1 “walk-in” ceremony, which brought joy to students and parents alike.
Winning second place in a mathematics competition by the Aderosoye Fadola Foundation, with a prize of ₦200,000.
Donation of key infrastructures, such as a modern photocopier, lawnmower, borehole repairs, modern staff toilets, and continuous renovation of facilities.
Engagement and support of teachers, including corps members and part-time staff, with salaries paid through May 2025.
Hosting a successful Inter-House Sports Competition and multiple educational accreditation events.
Reconstruction of the school fence and gatehouse at over ₦600,000, co-sponsored by current SS3 students.
Receiving five newly posted teachers and the reconstruction of a school block, thanks to the Ondo State Government.
He further urged educators to maintain high standards in teaching and learning, stressing that “no matter how laudable our achievements, without effective learning, the gap remains.”
As he signed off from active service, Dr. Oki took a moment to deeply appreciate his wife: “After God, it is my wife. May our lives and home never witness crisis; may we both be rapturable in Jesus’ name.”
Among the dignitaries at the colorful event were:
HRM Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, Alara of Ilara-Mokin
