Pastor Mrs. Rachael Titilayo Olumuyiwa, Principal of Christ the Redeemers International Secondary School, Akure, Ondo State, has been honoured with the News Connect Magazine Award of Excellence for her contributions to educational development, leadership and community service.
Titilayo was among distinguished educators and personalities recognised at the 5th Anniversary Celebration and Distinguished Teachers’ Hall of Fame organised by News Connect Magazine in Akure.
The award ceremony, held on Tuesday at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Centre, Ijapo, Akure, brought together educators, school administrators, community leaders, parents, students and other guests.
Receiving the award, Titilayo expressed gratitude to God for the recognition, describing the honour as an encouragement to intensify her efforts in the education sector.
She said the award had strengthened her determination to work harder and contribute more meaningfully to the development of students and the education system in Ondo State.
The Principal also acknowledged the efforts of principals, coordinators and teachers who, she said, continued to make sacrifices and give their best to ensure that students received quality education.
Pastor Titilayo Olumuyiwa who also doubles as the Area Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Holy Ghost Parish, Akure urged students to take their studies seriously and remain committed to their education despite the challenges they might encounter.
Titilayo advised students to make effective use of their time in secondary school, stressing the importance of dedication, discipline and hard work in achieving their aspirations.
She also encouraged teachers to remain committed to their responsibilities and continue giving their best to their students, noting that their sacrifices would ultimately produce positive results.
The award recipient expressed optimism that greater commitment from students, teachers and school administrators would contribute to further improvement in the education sector.
Speaking at the event, the Publisher of News Connect Magazine, Adebayo Gold, said the recipients were carefully selected based on the quality of their service and their contributions to society and educational development.
Gold particularly commended teachers for their sacrifices in educating, mentoring and preparing young people for the future.
He, however, raised concerns about what he described as the inadequate appreciation of teachers despite the responsibilities and sacrifices associated with their profession.
The publisher therefore called on government and other stakeholders in the education sector to give greater attention to teachers’ welfare, working conditions and overall wellbeing.
The anniversary celebration also featured the Distinguished Teachers’ Hall of Fame, through which educators whose dedication and service had positively impacted students and society were recognised.
The event served as a platform to celebrate outstanding educators and distinguished personalities for their contributions to education and community development in Ondo State.
