2026 Southwest Leadership Iconic Awards: Celebrating Excellence and Recognising AINPN’s Impact

The 2026 Southwest Leadership Iconic Awards brought together leading newspaper publishers, media professionals, public office holders, academics, and distinguished guests in a remarkable celebration of excellence and service to society. Organised by the Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (AINPN), the prestigious event took place on July 15, 2026, at Ogunlana Hall, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The ceremony showcased AINPN’s commitment to promoting quality leadership, honouring individuals who have made meaningful contributions to national development, and strengthening the role of the media in nation-building. The event also served as a platform for intellectual engagement through a thought-provoking public lecture.

One of the major highlights was the keynote presentation by the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), University of Ibadan, Professor Emilolorun Ambrose Ayelari, who delivered an insightful lecture on the theme, “Fostering Regional Prosperity: Economic and Security Integration in Nigeria.” His presentation examined the importance of regional cooperation, economic growth, and collective security as essential drivers of sustainable national development.

The successful organisation of the programme reflected the dedication and vision of the President of AINPN and Publisher of D Chronicle Media, Comrade Olaseeni Oyesusi, alongside members of the association’s executive council and organising committee. Their commitment, professionalism, and teamwork ensured the event’s success and reinforced AINPN’s growing reputation within Nigeria’s media industry.

Among those honoured were the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Alhaji Lateef Akande Bakare, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, Dr. Ezekiel Akande, Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, Professor Bayo Ilawole, Aare Afe Babalola, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale,, Ambassador Prince Surajudeen Oladotun, Amb Olusegun Musa and Chief Isaac Sunday Tapere. These are distinguished personalities who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and outstanding service in their various fields.

Their recognition was a reflection of years of dedication, integrity, and impactful contributions to society. By celebrating these achievements, AINPN has once again reaffirmed the importance of acknowledging individuals whose work continues to inspire positive change and national progress.
