Mystery Deepens as Police Arrest Three NSCDC Officers Over Colleague’s Death, Probe ₦2bn Transactions

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three officers attached to the NSCDC Mining Marshals unit in connection with the controversial death of Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Agada Levi Agada, an officer and pastor who was fatally shot during an operation in Nasarawa State.

The officers identified as Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu, and ASC Iwodi Obochi were taken into custody as investigations intensified into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case came under scrutiny after the deceased officer’s family petitioned authorities, questioning conflicting accounts of what transpired during the operation. While some reports suggested the team came under attack from armed bandits, other accounts indicated that Agada was the only casualty despite claims that other personnel were also affected.

Investigators reportedly uncovered medical findings suggesting that the fatal gunshot may have originated from the firearm of another NSCDC officer, prompting deeper inquiries into the incident.

In a separate development, detectives reportedly traced transactions exceeding ₦2 billion through a bank account linked to a member of the Mining Marshals unit. Authorities are currently examining the source and nature of the funds as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police sources disclosed that several personnel connected to the case were invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitations. The three arrested officers were reportedly apprehended while attempting to visit a suspect already in custody over matters related to the investigation.

Meanwhile, Agada’s family has continued to demand a thorough and transparent probe, alleging possible foul play and efforts to conceal the true circumstances surrounding his death. They also raised concerns over missing personal belongings, including the deceased officer’s mobile phones, and inconsistencies in information provided after the incident.

The police said investigations remain ongoing and called for full cooperation from all individuals connected to the case.
