STONEWORKS INDUSTRIES LTD DONATES TO OBA ILE HEALTH CENTER

Stoneworks Industries Ltd has presented its 2025 covenanted drugs and clinical consumables to Oba Ile Comprehensive Health Center, fulfilling its community development agreement with the host community. The donation is a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting the community, as stipulated in Section 116 of the Mining Act, which mandates corporate social responsibility for mining companies.

The Environmental Compliance Officer, Engineer Adebeshin, explained that the company is obligated to undertake developmental projects in the community every five years. “This is a form of developmental project that must be done in the community, as part of our community development agreement,” he said. The donated drugs and equipment will benefit the health center for the next five years, after which another project will be undertaken in a different area of the community.
Mr. Zannu Sewanu Thomas who represented the Managing Director of Stoneworks Industries Ltd , expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the community. “This is our first time coming to the health center to do something, and we are happy to be able to support the community in this way,” he said, handing over the documents detailing the donated drugs to the Regent.
The Permanent Secretary of Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu , represented by Dr. Cornelius Omode, thanked Stoneworks Granite Quarry for fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. He praised the company’s efforts, saying, “The WDC of the Oba Ile Comprehensive Health Center is one of the most active WDCs in Ondo State.” He also appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s efforts in upgrading the hospital, adding, “We are grateful for the support of the government and the mining company in ensuring the health center provides quality services to the community.”
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Regent of Obaile, Princess Adefoluke Veronica Agunbiade – Adu, representatives of the Managing Director, community leaders, and officials from the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development and Mines Environment Compliance. Dr. Omode appreciated the efforts of Stoneworks Industries Limited Quarry on behalf of Akure North Local Government and thanked the Governor, Hon Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Honourable Minister for Solid Minerals, Dr Dele Alake, the MD/CEO of Stoneworks Industries Limited, Mr. Safe Oluwafemi and the community for their support.
Engr. Adebeshin, the MEC officer pleaded with the management of the hospital to utilize the equipment and drugs effectively, ensuring the health center benefits from the donation. The donation is seen as a significant boost to the health center’s efforts to provide quality healthcare services to the community.
