Amotekun Parades 32 Suspects, Assures Ondo Residents of Sustained Security

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has paraded 32 suspects arrested for various criminal offences ranging from kidnapping and cattle rustling to theft across different parts of the state.

The suspects were apprehended during coordinated security operations in Akure, Oba Akoko, Akintown in Odigbo Local Government Area, and Agbogbo area of Akure, following intelligence-driven patrols by operatives of the corps.

Addressing journalists during the parade, the Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, declaring that Ondo State remains safe and peaceful.

Adeleye expressed appreciation to the state government and residents for their continued support, noting that community cooperation has played a critical role in the successes recorded so far. He urged the public to sustain the flow of credible information to security agencies to further drive down crime.

Among the cases highlighted was the arrest of three suspects — Ibrahim Oyenusa and Abdulkadri — who allegedly attempted to kill their Fulani employer after rustling ten cows in the Indoani area. The suspects were said to have planned the attack to cover up the crime before they were intercepted.

Also arrested were Piers Tayo and John, accused of kidnapping and collecting ransom from their victims, as well as Elora, Alilu, Adamu and Kaman, who were apprehended in connection with kidnapping-related activities in different communities.

The Amotekun commander noted that criminal activities across the state have continued to decline due to improved intelligence gathering, collaboration with other security agencies, and the vigilance of residents.

He assured that all suspects would be properly investigated and handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution, stressing that Ondo State will not provide a safe haven for criminal elements.
