AINPN to Honour Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi with Educational Visionary Legacy Award

The Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (AINPN) has announced that Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, international legal expert, energy sector strategist, and humanitarian champion will be honoured with the Educational Visionary Legacy Award at the upcoming 2025 AINPN Week.

The annual event is scheduled for December 19, 2025, at the NMA Event Center, Alagbaka, Akure. This year’s theme, “The Rise of One-Party Dominance: Implications for Democracy and the 2027 General Election,” will bring together influential figures across politics, business, academia, faith, governance, and civil society to discuss Nigeria’s democratic future while celebrating individuals who have made significant contributions to national growth.

The 2025 AINPN Week will honour several distinguished personalities whose work continues to shape society in powerful ways. Alongside Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, some of this year’s awardees include: Olori Abimbola Aladetoyinbo – Woman of Royal Distinction Award, Mr. & Mrs. Alaro, CEOs of Alaro Enterprise Nigeria Ltd – Entrepreneur Couple of the Year Award, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin – Award for Excellence in Education & Impact, Comrade Bola Taiwo – Distinguished Leadership & Community Service Award, Comrade Ademola Odudu – Grassroots Governance & Social Development Award, Dr. Adeniyi Ayodeji Ijogun – Community Development & Humanitarian Icon Award, amongst others.

Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi stands out as a leader redefining public service through intellect, humility, and humanity. A 2027 House of Representatives hopeful, Balarabe is driven by a mission to create opportunities for young people, advance education, and build systems that support sustainable development across Nigeria.

A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court, Notary Public, and Chartered Secretary, Balarabe has built an impressive international career, advising major organizations such as British Gas Plc and Gazprom Plc. His impact in Nigeria’s energy landscape includes significant contributions during his tenure as Adviser on Oil and Gas to the Ondo State Government.

Through the Balarabe Akinwumi Foundation, he is transforming the lives of young Nigerians by using education as a pathway out of poverty. His flagship initiative, “Out of School, Back to School,” supports children who have dropped out, ensuring they return to the classroom with the tools and confidence they need to thrive.

The foundation also offers scholarships, mentorship, ICT training, entrepreneurship programs, and vocational empowerment—reflecting Balarabe’s belief that every child deserves a chance to rise.

By naming him the recipient of the Educational Visionary Legacy Award, AINPN acknowledges Balarabe’s tireless efforts in promoting education, youth empowerment, and equitable access to opportunity.
