14 Ondo Lawmakers Pass Vote of Confidence in Speaker Oladiji

Fourteen out of the 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence in the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.

The lawmakers, during a parliamentary meeting, urged residents of the state to disregard calls for the Speaker’s removal over alleged gross misconduct.

The vote of confidence was contained in a letter made available to journalists after the meeting by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ololade Gbegudu.

According to the letter, the Speaker never diverted N50 million as alleged by the aggrieved 12 lawmakers.

It further stated that the 12 lawmakers making the allegations are “perpetual absentees” at parliamentary meetings, plenary sittings, and other official activities because “they reside more outside the country.”

The lawmakers described the allegations against the Speaker as “figments of imagination, bereft of facts.”

They assured the people of the state of their continued commitment to transparency and the delivery of dividends of democracy in line with the EASE government agenda.

The 14 lawmakers who signed the letter are:
Olamide Oladiji, Ololade Gbegudu, Olatunji Oshati, Suleiman Murtala, Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, and Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu.

Others include: Allen Oluwatoyin, Oladapo Biola, Witherspoon Atinuke, Dr. Ogunlana Christopher, Mr. Chris Ayebusiwa, Kolawole Ologede, and Mr. Tope Agbulu.
